STUDENT STORY

Morten Nielsen Danish Associate Manufacturing Engineer, Zymergen, Inc. Masters in International Business Class of 2019

You already had your own company, why do a masters?

During my undergrad I started a product development consultancy company. These 3D-printed bow ties are just one of the products we’ve helped bring to market. But I wanted a masters to rely on, regardless of what happened with my startup. Currently, I run my company in Denmark from San Francisco while I study.

Is Hult a good environment for entrepreneurs?

Here, I have finally found my place among like-minded individuals. Hult is full of ambitious forward thinkers who want to make an impact on the world. Hult students are not scared of dreaming big.

How can business make a difference?

Transforming businesses from profit generators to value creators is going to drive the economy of tomorrow. This is how we are going to innovate in the future. Not for profit but for need.

FACULTY INSIGHT

Hap Klopp American Founder & former CEO, The North Face Entrepreneurship & Product Development Professor

How do you bring your experience into the classroom?

I bring in people I’ve worked with, do real-world projects with companies I know, and use stories from my own life.

Would you describe yourself as a mentor?

Eleven of the people who worked for me at the North Face ended up running major outdoor businesses of their own—without business backgrounds. I mentor a lot of students in the development of their startups. It keeps me in touch with the latest technologies and presents live examples for me to draw on.

What makes Hult different?

It’s global, and about the future of business as much as the past.
