Energy of the Future
Claudio Sperindio Italian CEO, Oilchain Class of 2018
Why did you decide to build a business around blockchain?
After a deep study and understanding of the technology, I started wondering about its application to the real economy and how a technology so disruptive can have an impact in different industries and deliver tangible value
How did your time at Hult influence the business?
Hult has been a game changer in my life. Oilchain was born there—the team is composed of executive MBA students, all of them amazing professionals with broad experience. Some of my classmates even offered to help through their own network—they want to support the change.
Was there a “lightbulb moment” for you?
When Professor Mark Esposito was talking in our Business in Global Society course and I realized everything you do can have a positive impact on people and society. You don’t necessarily need to be a social entrepreneur to improve people’s lives. If you have a dream, and it can have a tangible positive impact on people’s lives, just do it.

Choose your crew with care. In industry-university collaborations, industries are tempted to choose students from the most prestigious schools, but these students are steeped in conventional thinking. The best-suited people are those hungriest to make an impact.”
