“It’s easy to become distracted and lose focus … just stop and reflect.”

Dual Degree: MBA/Master's in Business Analytics, Class of 2020
Atalia chose to study her MBA at Hult—just as a global pandemic hit. Rather than pause her plans, she adapted to make her career goals happen.
How have you kept your goals on track?
My number one tip is: positive vibes only! In a time like this, it’s easy to become distracted and lose focus. So, whenever that happens, just stop and reflect. Think about what you want to achieve; keep following your dream; and never take things for granted.
What key skill stands out to you?
Adaptivity is something that you hear a lot in business school and is a crucial aspect for successful leadership. As we’ve seen, the world is unpredictable and things can change overnight, so I’m channeling the “adaptive” buzzword and trying to make the best of the situation.

“You won’t be alone on this challenging yet exciting journey.”
Reynaldo Martinez
Venezuelan
Enterprise Solutions Account Manager, Microsoft
MBA, Class of 2016
“Every person’s journey is unique to them. We all have different paths and obstacles we must overcome in order to reach our goal.
I reached my goal of landing my dream job at Microsoft in the US and it was one of the most difficult challenges I've faced. It was one of those things where talent and opportunity had to come together. Fortunately, you're not alone on this challenging yet exciting journey. Here are some tips from what I’ve learned during my own process:
- Be focused, aim narrow, and go deep. Pick your dream companies (no more than five) and do your homework extensively. Learn about their mission, their business model, read their 10K, learn about the roles you are interested in, and build your network for each company.
- Connect with your career advisor from the very beginning. I was blessed to be mentored by Jane Russell from the careers team, who had a significant impact on me landing my current role. Your career advisor will help you build your resume, refine your elevator pitch, connect you with alumni, and more. Make sure to set up bi-weekly meetings with your career advisors! They are there to help you.”
